Wilton Pottery in Gems, Rocks & Minerals

Wilton Pottery
The limestone schoolhouse (formerly Wilton Public School, circa 1855), closed in 1970. It has been a pottery since then and is the studio, showroom and home of potters Diane Creber, Tim DeRose and their children. Although Diane and Tim use similar techniques, their pottery is very different in form and colour. Diane works in porcelain, a medium known for it's clarity and brilliance. She approaches porcelain in a painterly fashion, using many glazes and colours. Her multi-coloured plates and bowls have won many awards. She also makes teapots, jars, bowls, vases, punch bowl sets and a complete range of dinnerware. Diane also uses a technique called crystalline glazing. The delicate patterns of crystals achieved are the result of an intricate glazing and firing process. Tim works in stoneware, a clay known for it's warmth of colour and durability. He produces lamps, decorative plates, a large variety of functional pottery for the kitchen and dining room and large one-of-a-kind decorative wall panels. Tim also makes objects in the age-old Japanese technique of Raku. For the past three years, Tim has been doing paintings, mainly large-scale landscapes in acrylic on canvases.
